Yemen’s Houthis breached Israel’s multilayer air defense, drone attack on airport, flights halted for several hours

Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Sunday launched a drone attack on Israel’s airport. The Israeli army said that a drone fired by the Houthis broke through the country’s multi-layered air defense system and fell on the country’s southern airport. The glass of the airport’s windows blew out in this attack. One person was injured and commercial airspace had to be closed for some time.

Israel says that the drone reached Ramon airport but caused limited damage. Flights were resumed within a few hours of the attack. The Israeli army said that no warning siren sounded before the drone attack. Several drones were fired from Yemen

Israel said that Houthi rebels fired several drones one after the other on Sunday. Most of these were destroyed by their air defense outside Israel. A drone reached Ramon International Airport near the southern Israeli city of Eilat and collided with the terminal building.
