On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, immediate action is being taken against officers and employees. In this sequence, Uttarakhand Drinking Water Corporation Haldwani’s Superintending Engineer Sujit Kumar Vikas has been suspended with immediate effect due to serious allegations.

What are the allegations?

In the order issued by Drinking Water Corporation Chairman Shailesh Bagoli, it has been told that Sujit Kumar Vikas is accused of taking money from a contractor and misusing the position. Complainant Sanjay Kumar alleged that in 2022, when Sujit Kumar was on the post of Superintending Engineer in Dehradun Division, he assured to get his firm Harsh Enterprises registered in the department and get work.

Transaction of Rs 10 lakh

According to the complaint, in lieu of this, Sanjay Kumar transferred Rs 10 lakh in five installments from his firm’s account to the account of a company named Kuchu-Puchhu Enterprises in July 2022. The investigation revealed that the partner of this company is the wife of engineer Sujit Kumar Vikas, Ranju Kumari.

Failed to give explanation

After the serious allegations, the department had given Sujit Kumar 15 days to present his explanation. But when no reply was received by the stipulated time, action of suspension was taken.

Why was it considered a serious crime

The Chairman of the Drinking Water Corporation has clearly said that this act of the engineer is a direct violation of the employee conduct rules. His continuation on the post could have adversely affected the departmental work. Therefore, he was suspended with immediate effect.
