Uttarakhand: Cyber thugs made a teacher a victim in Dehradun!, looted his lifelong earning through digital arrest

In Dehradun (Dehradun News), an 80-year-old retired teacher fell prey to cyber thugs (Digital Arrest). The thugs kept him in digital arrest for about three hours by threatening him with money laundering and punishment. The thugs grabbed the teacher’s life savings. The victim, in panic, broke his FD, SIP and pension and transferred more than Rs 59 lakh to the accounts of the thugs. After the matter came to light, a case has been registered against unknown accused in the cyber crime police station.
Teacher made victim of cyber thugs in Dehradun!
Actually, the victim teacher told that on August 27, he received a call on his mobile. The caller introduced himself as an employee of the telecom department. The thugs said that a SIM card has been issued in his name in Mumbai. Which is being misused.
After this, he was lured to connect the call to the crime department. The people present there intimidated him saying that he is trapped in a money laundering case. Transactions worth crores have been done in his name. The thugs also threatened that they could be sentenced from six months to five years. Their children can also be arrested.
Lifelong earnings looted by Digital Arrest
In such a situation, the teacher borrowed Rs 5 lakh 73 thousand from his wife’s account, Rs 15 lakh by breaking his FD, Rs 26 lakh from his wife’s FD, Rs 5 lakh 47 thousand from SIP and Rs 1 lakh 8 thousand of pension from relatives and put the money in the accounts mentioned by the thugs. The thugs did not stop here, they started demanding more money. Meanwhile, when the relatives got to know about the matter, they immediately advised to complain to the cyber helpline.
Police registered a case
CO Cyber Crime Control Ankush Mishra said that a case has been registered against unknown accused on the complaint of the victim. The bank accounts in which the money has been transferred are being investigated and the account holders are being identified.
Appeal made to the people
The cyber police has made people aware that there is no legal provision called ‘digital arrest’. This is a complete fraud. In which the thugs create fear and pressure by claiming to be CBI, ED or police officers. Do not panic on receiving such calls, do not give money under any circumstances. Immediately register a complaint by dialing the helpline number 1930.
