The Congress party held a protest in Haldwani today regarding law and order, including the Nainital kidnapping and firing incident during the Uttarakhand Panchayat elections. Accusing the government of deteriorating law and order, the Congress party raised slogans and expressed its protest.
On Saturday, a large number of Congress workers, led by State Congress President Karan Mahra, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Bhuvan Chandra Kapri, and Haldwani Congress MLA Sumit Hridayesh, reached Buddha Park in Haldwani. They raised slogans against the state government and police administration, raising questions about the state government and police administration.
During this protest, the Congress party stated that law and order has completely failed in Nainital district and the entire state. People are being kidnapped and murdered in broad daylight. Women are not safe. Crimes against women are on the rise. The Nainital police are acting at the behest of the BJP and the state government. Even if someone raises voice against this, the state government and police are suppressing them.
Congress State President Karan Mahra leveled several allegations against the state government and the BJP. He stated that crime is steadily increasing in the state. According to a report from the central government, Uttarakhand ranks number one in crimes against women. Robberies, kidnappings, murders, and other crimes are constantly occurring in Uttarakhand.
Karan Mahara stated that the entire country witnessed the crimes committed by BJP members in Nainital during the Panchayat elections. However, the police took no action against them. Candidates are being kidnapped in broad daylight during the Panchayat elections, and those who speak out against the BJP are being tortured in police stations. The police are constantly working under pressure from the government and the BJP. But in the future, the people of Uttarakhand will hold the government accountable.
MLA Sumit Hridayesh leveled serious allegations against the Nainital police, stating that the manner in which the Nainital police assaulted and mistreated the Leader of the Opposition and elected representatives during the Panchayat elections is unforgivable. He stated that the Congress party’s protest will continue until the state government takes action against the senior police officers. During this, Congressmen raised slogans against the state government and Nainital Police.
