Uttarakhand: Helicopter service to Kedarnath resumes today, but flights will not be permitted if the weather is bad.

After a gap of three months, helicopter services to Kedarnath Dham are set to resume today. The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UKADA) has completed all preparations for this. However, helicopter shuttles will not be permitted in case of inclement weather.

A DGCA team has arrived in Uttarakhand before the start of the helicopter service. The team inspected safety standards at the Guptkashi, Sirsi, and Phata helipads. They also evaluated the pilots deployed by the helicopter companies and other technical requirements. Seven helicopters from six companies have arrived at the Guptkashi, Sirsi, and Phata helipads for the helicopter service. The helicopter companies’ trial flights were successful.

UKADA CEO Ashish Chauhan stated that preparations for the Kedarnath helicopter service are complete. The meeting with the DGCA team was positive. Helicopters will not be permitted to fly in case of inclement weather. All companies’ shuttles will be monitored.
