Mussoorie, the queen of the mountains, has not been spared from the rampant growth of illegal construction. The MDDA (Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority) has now taken action against these structures, which threaten Mussoorie’s natural beauty and planned development. Under this initiative, the MDDA will use bulldozers to demolish illegal constructions. This information was provided by MDDA Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari.

MDDA Vice President Banshidhar Tiwari, who was on a visit to Mussoorie, stated that the authority has initiated a planned and phased action against illegal construction. Mussoorie has been divided into sectors to control illegal construction. Every week, the entire authority team will visit a sector for surveys and inspections.

An FIR will be filed if construction is found again in a sealed area: Any illegal construction found anywhere will result in immediate notice, sealing, and, if necessary, even FIR action. He added that if construction is found again in previously sealed buildings, an FIR will be filed against the person responsible, and strict legal action will be taken.

In light of the ever-increasing floating population and unregulated construction in Mussoorie, a proposal for a one-time settlement policy has been prepared. This policy is considered a major step towards solving Mussoorie’s age-old problems. Banshidhar Tiwari stated that the policy is now under consideration, and its implementation will ensure sustainable and planned development in Mussoorie.

Map maps can be viewed on the MDDA website: The MDDA has now brought relief to those who wish to build houses legally. For this, the authority has uploaded pre-approved residential maps into its software. Now, citizens can apply directly online without any brokers and will receive prompt approval.

He urged people to use the MDDA website directly instead of wandering around. “We have uploaded all the maps, which can be used to simplify and legalize the home construction process.”

Banshidhar Tiwari stated that heavy rains have damaged Mussoorie’s roads and footpaths. As soon as the rains subside, repair and beautification work will be initiated in priority areas, as directed by the Chief Secretary, by visiting Mussoorie.

Considering the serious parking problem in Mussoorie, the construction of the much-awaited parking lot at Zero Point will commence soon. All necessary paperwork has been completed. He also informed that no housing scheme has been implemented in Mussoorie since 1998, but proposals have now been sought under the Land Pooling Policy.

Some proposals have been received, which will be evaluated and new housing colonies will be built after the land acquisition process. He also informed that the construction of an eco-park in Hussainganj is also proposed to promote natural tourism. CM Dhami has already laid its foundation stone. Construction will begin soon.
