Adani Group bags tender for Kedarnath ropeway project

Another project has landed for the Adani Group. The Adani Group has won the tender for the Kedarnath Ropeway Project, a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Kedarnath Ropeway Project involves the construction of a 13-kilometer-long ropeway between Sonprayag and Kedarnath.
Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) has been awarded the tender. National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) has issued a letter of award for this project. The ropeway will be completed in six years with an investment of ₹4,081 crore.

The Adani Group will operate the project for 29 years. PM Modi laid the foundation stone for this ropeway upon his arrival in Kedarnath on October 21, 2022. The financial bids for the project were opened on April 20, and the Union Cabinet approved it in August.
A nine-hour journey will be completed in 36 minutes
With the construction of this ropeway, travel time will be reduced. A 13-kilometer journey that normally takes approximately nine hours will now be completed in just 36 minutes. As you may know, reaching Kedarnath requires a difficult 16-kilometer trek, horseback riding, palanquins, and helicopters. Meanwhile, the temple is accessible by road only as far as Sonprayag.
Kedarnath ropeway project to be built at a cost of ₹4,081 crore
To facilitate this journey, the central government approved the construction of the ropeway project in a public-private partnership (PPP) mode in March. This ropeway project will be built at a cost of ₹4,081 crore (Kedarnath ropeway project budget).
Kedarnath ropeway project start date
According to reports, this ropeway project will begin operation in October 2025. The project will be built by National Highway Logistics Management Limited under the National Ropeway Development Programme (NRP) – Parvatmala Project. The ropeway will be able to carry 1,800 passengers per hour in one direction.
