Uttarakhand: Dehradun rains wreak havoc: 30 roads and several bridges destroyed, Maharaj orders repairs

Torrential rains in Dehradun since last night have completely disrupted normal life. Public Works Minister Satpal Maharaj stated that 20 to 30 roads in the district have been damaged, and bridges have also been damaged in some places. The minister has directed department officials to continuously monitor the condition of damaged roads and bridges and restore traffic as soon as possible.

Valley Bridge Under Construction on Mussoorie-Dehradun Road
State Public Works Minister Satpal Maharaj stated that the torrential rains in Dehradun and surrounding areas since last night have disrupted normal life. 20 to 30 roads and bridges have been damaged in some places, while many connecting routes have also been completely cut off.

The minister stated that a valley bridge is being constructed to facilitate traffic flow after the bridge near the Shiv Temple on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road was damaged due to heavy rains. Public Works Department and NHAI officials have been instructed to immediately repair major roads blocked by rain and restore traffic.

Maharaj provided information on damaged bridges
Maharaj stated that the NHAI has been fully reopened to maintain traffic flow due to the damaged bridge over the Tons River near Premnagar Nanda Chowki. Maharaj stated that approximately 70-100 meters of the road from Raipur Chowk to Maldevta, beyond Kesarwala near Maldevta, was washed away by the flooding of the Song River, and work has begun to repair it.

Public Works Minister Satpal Maharaj stated that a portion of the bridge over the Jakhan River on the Dehradun-Haridwar National Highway near Laltappad was damaged, and traffic has been diverted to alternative routes via Bhaniyawala and Nepali Farm. Repairs to the damaged portion of the bridge will begin immediately as soon as the water level recedes.
