Communication between the capital, Dehradun, and Mussoorie has been completely disrupted. Heavy rainfall on the night of September 15th and 16th severely damaged the Dehradun-Mussoorie road. The continuous downpour has caused landslides and road collapses at several locations, completely disrupting traffic.

Dehradun-Mussoorie Connectivity Disconnected
Hundreds of tourists who arrived in Mussoorie are stranded due to the road closure. However, local residents are taking responsibility and helping stranded travelers reach safety. In light of the situation, the administration has ordered the acceleration of relief and rescue operations, but inclement weather is hampering these efforts.

Rain Adds to Problems
The route from Dehradun to Mussoorie is considered extremely important from a tourism perspective. Thousands of tourists visit every year, but this time the heavy rains have exacerbated the difficulties. The administration has appealed to people to avoid traveling to Mussoorie until the weather normalizes.

Eight people drowned in the river. On Tuesday morning, around 6:30 a.m., 14 people from Moradabad, Sambhal, and Parwal were trying to escape on a tractor-trolley after the Tons River’s water level suddenly rose. However, the trolley overturned in the river’s strong current. Eight bodies were recovered, two were safely rescued by police, while four others are still missing. The deceased include four women and four men. The rescue operation is ongoing.
