Heavy rains have caused significant damage in many areas of Uttarakhand. The torrential downpour that occurred on the intervening night of September 15-16 disrupted normal life in Dehradun. Several people were swept away by the rising water levels of rain-fed rivers.

13 people killed in Dehradun disaster
A total of 13 people have died in Dehradun. In view of the seriousness of the situation caused by the continuous heavy rainfall across the state, including Dehradun, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the State Disaster Operations Center late Tuesday night. He held a meeting with officials from the Disaster Management Department, SDRF, district administration, and other relevant agencies to review the progress of relief and rescue operations.

Work should be carried out on a war footing to search for missing people: CM
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the damage caused by the heavy rains in the capital Dehradun and other districts of the state at the Disaster Control Room on Tuesday night. He also directed officials to conduct relief and rescue operations on a war footing. The CM said that all possible assistance should be provided immediately to those affected by the heavy rainfall. Efforts should be made on a war footing to search for those who are missing.

The government will honor those who performed heroic acts during the disaster
The CM stated that the government stands shoulder to shoulder with all affected families in this hour of disaster. The CM directed officials to provide immediate assistance to the affected areas and also directed for strengthening weather forecasting. The Chief Minister also said that those who performed heroic acts in disaster relief should also be honored.

Instructions given to improve drinking water supply
CM Dhami has directed the drinking water department to ensure the supply of drinking water to the affected areas as soon as possible and to continuously monitor the quality of the drinking water. The CM directed the district administration to maintain special vigilance in sensitive areas and ensure essential arrangements such as food, drinking water, medical facilities, and electricity supply in relief camps.
