There’s good news for pilgrims traveling on the Char Dham Yatra. Helicopter services have resumed. Following the subsiding monsoon rains, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved the resumption of helicopter services to the Char Dham. A review meeting was held by Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, where initiatives were taken to make the Char Dham Yatra safer.

Helicopter services resume for the Char Dham Yatra

The Ministry stated that from September 13th to 16th, the DGCA assessed the preparedness of all helipads, helicopters, and operators. Only after this was the helicopter operation approved. The DGCA also provided helicopter operators and pilots with information on safety measures related to the pilgrimage.

The DGCA will monitor the helicopter service

The Ministry states that helicopter services are crucial for the high-altitude pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand. Due to this, the DGCA has enhanced safety measures for helicopter services.

Helicopter operations for the Chardham Yatra will be closely monitored by the DGCA. Several helicopter crashes were reported in the Chardham sector in May and June this year, raising questions about helicopter operations.
