Cold weather hits the mountains! Season’s first snowfall from Kashmir to Himachal and Uttarakhand, temperatures plummet

Heavy rain and snowfall have brought a chill to Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath shrine and the mountainous regions of Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in the mountainous regions. However, the snowfall has brought cheer to the tourists who have arrived, enjoying the weather and braving the sudden cold.

First Snowfall of the Season in Kedarnath

The first snowfall of the season has fallen in Kedarnath shrine. The cold has intensified in Kedarnath. Pilgrims from India and abroad are enjoying the snowfall. Following the change in weather in Kedarnath shrine, temperatures are dropping due to snowfall in the shrine in October.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. A forecast has been issued for rain in the mountains and snowfall in high altitude areas from October 6th to October 7th. The increasing cold and weather alerts are impacting the pilgrimage to Hemkund Sahib and Badrinath shrine. The weather at Badrinath Dham has changed since morning, with the change in weather increasing the cold. Due to the change in weather, the administration is advising pilgrims to carry warm clothing.

Cold also increased in the mountains of Kashmir and Himachal

The mountainous areas of Kashmir, including Mount Afarwat in Gulmarg and Zojila Pass in Sonamarg, have received the first snowfall of the season. The fresh snow has transformed this popular hill station into a winter wonderland, and tourists are enjoying the view. Heavy rain and snowfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir in the next 36 to 48 hours.

High-altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh experienced snowfall for the second consecutive day, causing minimum temperatures to drop. According to officials, Gondhla and Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district received 5 cm and 4 cm of snow, respectively. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain and issued a yellow alert for several districts in Himachal.
