The Uttarakhand government is preparing to take action against those who conceal Waqf properties. The Waqf Portal was launched on June 6, 2025, by the Ministry of Minority Affairs with the aim of improving and bringing transparency to Waqf properties.
Those who conceal Waqf properties will face action
The portal aims to ensure digital registration, transparent management, and monitoring of Waqf properties across the country. However, despite this, complaints are emerging from many quarters that some individuals and committees are deliberately not registering Waqf properties on the portal and are attempting to illegally suppress them. Uttarakhand Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams has issued a warning regarding this.
A three-step “Checker-Maker-Approval” system has been developed
Shadab Shams stated that strict action will now be taken against such individuals. He stated that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has a clear policy of “no wrongdoer will be spared,” and therefore, the Waqf Board will soon take significant action against those who conceal Waqf properties or avoid registration. Shadab Shams explained that the Waqf portal has been developed in three stages: “Checker-Maker-Approval” to prevent any irregularities.
Those who conceal their property will be classified as Waqf Mafia: Chairman
Shadab Shams stated that any individual or organization that fails to register their Waqf property on the portal will be classified as a “Waqf Mafia.” The Waqf Board has consistently appealed to the public through media, social media, and public awareness campaigns to ensure their properties are registered. Failure to register properties on the portal could result in significant losses for both the Waqf institution and the community.
