The movement between Kumaon and Garhwal will be smooth, the Railway Ministry has given a big gift to Uttarakhand

There’s good news for rail passengers in Uttarakhand. The Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has approved increasing the frequency of the Dehradun-Tanakpur Express (15019/15020) from weekly to tri-weekly (three days). The Ministry of Railways has issued an order in this regard.

The Dehradun-Tanakpur Express will now run three days a week
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in New Delhi on October 8, 2025, where they discussed the matter in detail. Acting swiftly on CM Dhami’s request, the Ministry of Railways has approved the Dehradun-Tanakpur Express to run three times a week.

New Dehradun-Tanakpur Express Timetable
According to the new timetable, the 15019 Dehradun-Tanakpur Express will now run on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The 15020 Tanakpur-Dehradun Express (previously running only on Sundays) will now run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. (Previously running only on Saturdays.)

This service increase will provide significant convenience to residents of the state
This service increase has been made in response to growing passenger demand and regional connectivity. The Railway Ministry has prioritized the convenience of Uttarakhand passengers and directed that this decision be implemented with immediate effect. CM Dhami expressed his gratitude to the Railway Minister and the Railway Board for this decision.
