Uttarakhand: Firing at Doon Hospital; two groups exchanged gunfire after an altercation; police are searching for the accused

Chaos erupted in Dehradun late Saturday night when gunfire erupted after an altercation between two groups outside Doon Hospital. One young man was injured in the incident and has been admitted to the hospital.

The incident is reported to have occurred on Canal Road in the Rajpur area. According to police, two groups had a fight over something near the canteen on Canal Road at around 2 a.m. on the intervening night of October 18th and 19th. Following the altercation, three young men from one group—Ayushman Kaushik, a resident of Raipur, Dishank Singh Rana, a resident of Uttarkashi, and Mahi, a resident of Rajpur Road—arrived at Doon Hospital for treatment.

A short while later, these young men left the hospital to have tea when the other group, Nripendra Dhama, a resident of Baghpat, and another young man, Rohan (unidentified), also arrived at Doon Hospital for treatment. The altercation between the two groups began again, and the situation quickly escalated into a violent one. During this, Nripendra and Rohan shot Dishaant. Dishaant was seriously injured and was immediately admitted to Doon Hospital by his companions.

Search for the accused continues
As soon as information about the incident was received, a police team arrived at the scene. Considering the seriousness of the matter, Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh has formed special teams to register a case against the accused and arrest them. Police stated that raids are being conducted continuously to search for the accused and they will be arrested soon.
