Hemant Soren makes a U-turn in Bihar elections, says JMM will stay away from the electoral fray, makes a major allegation against the Grand Alliance

A major upset is being witnessed in the Bihar elections. Hemant Soren, who broke away from the Grand Alliance, had announced that he would contest six seats in Bihar alone. However, he has now made a U-turn. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will no longer participate in the Bihar Assembly elections. Just two days ago, Hemant Soren had announced that he would contest six seats independently in Bihar.
JMM leader Sudibya Kumar announced this decision at a press conference in Giridih, Jharkhand. He said, “With great regret, the JMM is forced to announce that it will not participate in the Bihar Assembly elections this time.”
He also stated that the Congress party is also responsible for not including the JMM in the seat-sharing meeting. Sudibya Kumar stated that the JMM had previously identified 28 seats in Bihar with a significant tribal population. He said that the JMM had lost 22 of these seats by narrow margins in the previous elections.
Regarding Hemant’s U-turn, BJP leader Pratul Shah said, “Given the number of U-turns the JMM has made regarding the Bihar elections in the last 15 days, I think it’s time to change the name of JMM to JMMU. The U stands for U-turn. First, they said they would contest 16 seats, then, in a U-turn, said they would contest 12. Then, they went to the Grand Alliance leaders and said they were ready for three seats.”
Pratul Shah said that the Grand Alliance gave them the green light, but they were chased away. They didn’t win any seats. Then, they held a big press conference and said they would contest six seats and teach the Grand Alliance a lesson. Then, within 24 hours, they made a U-turn. Regarding the JMM, Shah said, “This is a party that has lost its Jharkhandi pride on the streets of Bihar for a few seats.”
