Uttarakhand: Governor Gurmeet Singh visited Baba Kedarnath; Kedarnath shrine to close after two days

Upon Governor Gurmeet Singh’s arrival at Kedarnath Dham today, October 21st, Additional District Magistrate Shyam Singh Rana and Chief Development Officer Rajendra Singh Rawat welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers at the VIP helipad. The Governor then proceeded on foot to the temple premises, where he performed abhishek, puja, and worship of Baba Kedar. He prayed to Baba Kedar for the well-being of the citizens and the progress of the state.
Meeting with the Tirtha Purohit Samaj: Governor Gurmeet Singh met with the Tirtha Purohit Samaj at the Kedarnath temple complex. The priests welcomed the Governor with traditional chants and rituals. The Governor described it as a deeply spiritual and emotional experience. After worshipping Baba Kedar, the Governor greeted the devotees who had gathered in the temple premises. He filled the atmosphere with devotion with chants of “Baba Kedarnath ki Jai.”

Governor conducts on-site inspection of reconstruction works: Governor Gurmeet Singh also conducted on-site inspection of the ongoing reconstruction and development works at Kedarnath Dham. During this, DDMA Executive Engineer Vinay Jhinkwan provided the Governor with detailed information about the ongoing construction work at the Dham. He informed him that most of the reconstruction work has been completed. The remaining work is also in the final stages.
Governor Gurmeet Singh said that significant progress has been made in yatra management and reconstruction in the last three years. He praised the district administration, temple committee, police department, SDRF, NDRF, and all supporting agencies, saying, “Your role in making the Chardham Yatra successful, safe, and devotee-friendly is commendable.”
Construction of Pilgrim Priests’ Building Complete: Governor Gurmeet Singh was informed that the construction of the buildings being built for the priests is mostly complete. Issues related to land and building allocation have been resolved. The Governor particularly praised the temple committee and district administration for this coordinated effort.
Praised Officers and Employees for Their Service and Dedication: The Governor met with the officers, security personnel, and staff on duty in Kedarnath and boosted their morale. He remarked that the administration, police, and service teams are playing a vital role in ensuring a comfortable pilgrimage experience for all pilgrims. He encouraged everyone, saying, “All employees should work with complete dedication and service to ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience.”
The doors of Kedarnath Dham will be closed for the winter season on October 23rd. After this, Kedarnath Dham will be plunged into silence for six months. Meanwhile, the process of closing the doors of Kedarnath Dham has already begun. On October 18th, the doors of Bhukunt Bhairavnath, the protector of Kedarnath Dham, were closed.
