Russian Drone Attack in Kyiv
Responding to the ongoing Russian attacks, Ukrainian officials said the country’s energy system was being targeted ahead of the arrival of winter. However, it remains unclear what the purpose of the attack was. Previously, officials had said that Wednesday’s strike killed at least seven people in Ukraine, six of whom were in the capital, Kyiv. The attacks also disrupted power supplies.
Energy infrastructure targeted
The Ukrainian military stated that since February 2022, Russia has launched a total of 130 drones over Ukraine, shooting down 92. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that Russia targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Russia maintains that Ukrainian energy facilities are legitimate military targets.
