“Forcibly evicted from government bungalow…,” claims Congress leader Udit Raj – targeted on the basis of caste

a
Congress leader and former MP Udit Raj on Friday alleged that authorities forcibly evicted his family from their Pandara Park bungalow in New Delhi despite the case being sub judice.
He said this was punishment for speaking out for the Dalits and the poor. However, according to sources in the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Udit Raj’s wife, retired IRS officer Seema Raj, stayed five months longer than the agreed period.
She owes more than ₹2.1 million. Seema Raj was allotted the bungalow, but she retired on November 30 last year. She was allowed to stay in the house until May 31. However, she stayed five months longer than the agreed period.
Sources said her case was referred to the litigation section on June 12 to initiate eviction proceedings under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act. An eviction order was passed against him on August 5th and executed on August 11th. Despite this, he did not vacate the premises.
He owes approximately ₹21,45,703. The eviction order against Raj has been challenged in court. Earlier, Udit Raj had claimed that despite a court hearing scheduled for October 28th, officials forcibly threw his belongings out of the bungalow.
He said, “I tried to contact Union Minister Manohar Lal, but could not reach him.” The former MP said he would raise the matter with his party leadership. He shared the video on “X” and wrote, “My household belongings are being thrown on the road.”
Seema Raj said she had requested time until the end of November or early December to find another place. She said, “A retired officer can stay in government accommodation for six months without any hassle.”
Following this, I requested the Directorate of Estates to extend my stay, as my father was seriously ill. He recently passed away. The retired officer alleged that the eviction notice was issued despite a hearing scheduled just a few days later.
They came to evict us during court holidays so that we could not approach the court and seek legal recourse. Udit Raj, who represented North West Delhi in the Lok Sabha as a BJP MP from 2014 to 2019 before joining the Congress, said he was “thinking of vacating the house” soon, but the “haste” shown by the authorities raises questions.
