A 24-year-old unemployed man, upset over a breakup with his girlfriend, resorted to murder. He slit her throat in public and stabbed her multiple times. He then committed suicide after attacking her. This incident, which occurred in the middle of the road, caused a sensation in the area. Police have taken possession of the body and a force has been deployed in the area.
The incident occurred on Friday morning in the Chinchpokli area of Lalbaug. The man stalked the woman for a distance with the intention of stabbing her. He then caught up with her in front of a maternity hospital and stabbed her multiple times. The woman fled inside the hospital.
The girl’s condition is critical
Police reported that the accused, Sonu Barai, died from his injuries, while the 24-year-old woman, Manisha Yadav, is admitted to the ICU of a private hospital. According to Kalachowki police, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Dattaram Lad Road near Chinchpokli.
An argument broke out during the conversation
Police stated that the young man and woman were walking towards Chinchpokli station from the Kalachowki police station. Witnesses told police that the man suddenly attacked the woman with a knife on the road. In an attempt to save her life, the woman ran into a nearby nursing home. The attacker followed her inside and stabbed her multiple times. When locals and nursing home staff tried to intervene, the man allegedly turned the knife on himself and slit his throat.
Both were immediately rushed to KEM Hospital in Parel for treatment. Kalachowki police and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) R. Ragasudha arrived at the scene immediately after the incident. A police team has also been deployed at KEM Hospital.
The two were in a relationship for a long time
An officer said that preliminary investigations revealed that the two neighbors had been in a relationship for some time, but recently broke up because the accused suspected the woman was having an affair with someone else. On Friday, the accused had called the girl to meet him nearby, when an argument broke out and he started beating her.
