Every year, during the monsoon season, heavy rainfall not only causes devastation in Karligad and Manjhada villages in Dehradun, but also poses a growing risk of loss of life and property. During his inspection of the disaster-affected areas on Tuesday, District Magistrate Savin Bansal directed a geological survey of the Karligad and Manjhada villages by a team of experts from the Wadia Institute of Geology and IIT Roorkee to assess the potential disaster. Furthermore, in light of the potential disaster threat, he directed the removal of millions of tons of debris from the river and streams, and the demarcation of lots for disposal before the monsoon. He also directed the District Magistrate to provide market-rate house rent to disaster-affected families.

DM Listens to People’s Problems
On Monday, during Diwali, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the disaster-affected areas, meeting with the people and sharing their pain. Following this, on Tuesday, District Magistrate Savin Bansal visited Seragaon Sahasradhara and held a high-level review meeting on reconstruction and relief work. During this period, the DM took feedback on various departmental projects and road restoration work damaged in the September disaster. The DM summoned departmental officials on the spot and reviewed the reconstruction work department-wise. He also inquired about the status of construction work from local residents and regional public representatives and listened to their concerns. He directed the concerned officials to address the public’s concerns. He instructed departmental officials to submit pending estimates to the ADM Finance and Revenue within a week on a priority basis.

Internal roads not opened, reprimanded
The DM directed to expedite the reconstruction of electricity, water, and roads in Karligad and Manjhada villages. He stated that he himself is continuously monitoring the reconstruction work. He directed that departmental officials remain in the area until relief is provided to every affected person. He will continue to inspect and review the situation. He stated that the Chief Minister, during his visit to the disaster-affected areas on Monday, had given instructions to restore normal life as soon as possible, and the district administration has put in all its efforts to achieve this. On the spot, he directed the Panchayat Department to approve funds for the PWD to clean the obstructed motorways with machines.
