Uttarakhand: Four policemen have been booked for assaulting a youth in Dehradun

The son of a policeman under the Rajpur police station jurisdiction has accused four policemen on night duty in the Rajpur area of assaulting him. After complaining to the SSP and DGP, the victim filed a petition in court. Following the court’s order, a case was registered against the four policemen at the Rajpur police station.

The incident occurred on the night of August 6th: The victim alleges that he was driving home in his car when four policemen assaulted him and put him in custody. A young man from Rajpur has filed a complaint stating that at around 11:30 pm on August 6th, he was traveling on the Mussoorie Diversion Road in a Thar vehicle. Two other friends were also in the car.

It is alleged that policemen at a checkpoint on the Mussoorie Diversion Road stopped the car and questioned him. When asked if he had consumed alcohol, the victim said that the two people sitting with him had consumed beer and were out to eat ice cream and were returning home. It is alleged that the policeman attempted to test the patient with an alcohol meter, but the meter was not working.

Serious allegations of assault against the police: The young man alleges that the policeman prepared the report manually and handed him a false challan slip. When the victim objected to the incorrect challan slip, the police threatened to file a case. Six to seven police officers were present at the time. Terrified, he ran towards Canal Road, but slipped and fell.

It is alleged that the police officers then pinned him to the ground and brutally beat him with kicks, gun butts, and batons, causing severe injuries. When his friend came to his rescue, the police officers also beat him. To save his life, the friend ran and hid in an alley and called his father.

On August 8th, the SP City also summoned the police officers on night duty at the Rajpur police station for statements, but took no action.
