Uttarakhand: The meeting of the Empowered Committee constituted for conducting nursing courses was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan

The Empowered Committee for Nursing Courses held a meeting at the Secretariat on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. During the meeting, the committee recommended the launch of nursing courses and increased seating capacity for various medical and nursing colleges.

The Chief Secretary directed the creation of a single-window system for nursing course applications, instead of having to process them at various levels. He stated that this would simplify the process from application to government approval. He directed that work be initiated immediately. The Chief Secretary also stated that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) should be developed soon, covering the various stages of the process, from application by institutions to the completion of the program.

During the meeting, the committee recommended 1,790 new nursing seats in 39 colleges. Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar stated that the total number of registered nurses with the State Nursing Council by 2024 is 21,541. Currently, 9,806 individuals are undergoing nursing training in government and private nursing colleges. Secretary Dilip Jawalkar and other senior officials were also present on this occasion.
