The Bihari Mahasabha kicked off the Chhath festival today with Nahai-Khaye, where pumpkin rice was prepared and distributed. This offering is offered to Chhathi Maiya and then distributed among devotees. Pumpkin rice is prepared using pumpkin, rice, mustard oil, fenugreek seeds, green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and jaggery.
Tomorrow, the Kharna Prasad ceremony will be held, in which Bihari Mahasabha members and other devotees will participate. The Kharna Prasad will include jaggery kheer and roti, cooked on a new earthen stove using mango wood. This offering will be offered to Chhathi Maiya and the Sun God and then distributed among devotees.
Milk, rice, jaggery, and pure ghee will be used to prepare the Kharna Prasad. Purity and sanctity will be maintained during the preparation of the Prasad, and mango wood will be used as it is dear to Chhathi Maiya.
