Congress leader and former MLA Narayan Pal, along with Lalit Joshi, staged a sit-in protest at the RFC Kumaon office in Haldwani today. He accused the administration and the department of negligence for the lack of paddy procurement in the Sitarganj area.

Protesting at the RFC Kumaon office, former MLA Narayan Pal said that paddy procurement has been halted at government procurement centers in Sitarganj, causing significant hardship to farmers. He said that farmers are forced to sell their produce to middlemen at low prices.

Narayan Pal alleged that farmers are being exploited through collusion between brokers and government employees, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He warned that if paddy procurement does not resume at government centers soon, the agitation will be intensified.

RFC Kumaon issues clarification
RFC Kumaon’s Chandra Singh Martolia clarified that paddy procurement is being carried out in accordance with government regulations. This year, there’s a significant difference between the government and private rates, and the inflow of paddy is also high, which is causing difficulties. He assured that the problem will be resolved soon.
