Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a site inspection of the Sharda Corridor Project and the Sharda Ghat redevelopment work in Tanakpur. During the inspection, he inaugurated development projects worth ₹20 crore under the Sharda Corridor Project and laid the foundation stone for projects worth approximately ₹19 crore. He also announced the opening of an agricultural college in Champawat and spoke about developing Champawat as a destination for spiritual, religious, and cultural tourism.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Tanakpur Sharda Ghat in his Champawat constituency and inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth crores. He also inaugurated the first phase of the Sharda Corridor Project, to be built in Tanakpur at a cost of ₹185.20 crore. He also conducted a site inspection of the project, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various projects worth ₹20.50 crore.
A center affiliated with Pantnagar Agricultural University will be opened in Champawat: CM Dhami performed puja at Sharda Ghat and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state. During this, CM Dhami announced that a center affiliated with Pantnagar Agricultural University will be established in Champawat to promote agricultural activities. Flood protection works will also be carried out on priority in the disaster-affected area of Chhinigoth.
The Sharda Corridor Project will boost religious tourism: He said that the completion of the Sharda Corridor Project will give a new direction to religious tourism and create extensive employment opportunities for local youth. Similarly, the construction of the Ganga Corridor in Haridwar and Rishikesh, as well as the ghats on the banks of the Yamuna in Haripur Kalsi, is also progressing rapidly.
CM Dhami said that approximately 3 million tourists visit Champawat every year. Therefore, efforts are being made to promote religious tourism by connecting several religious sites, including Maa Purnagiri, Bayan Dhura, Reetha Sahib, and Golju Temple, to the Sharda Corridor. Furthermore, emphasis is being placed on developing Champawat’s scenic spots, including Boom Chuka, Shyamaltal, Mayawati Ashram, and Pancheshwar, as wedding destinations and spiritual tourist destinations. This will ensure the success of the Sharda Corridor and Golju Corridor projects.
