Indian ODI cricket team vice-captain Shreyas Iyer’s health suddenly deteriorated. Iyer, who was on the Australia tour, was in the ICU at a Sydney hospital. His condition is currently improving and he has been released from the ICU.
It should be noted that during the third ODI against Australia, Iyer attempted to catch a ball while running backwards, resulting in an injury. He was immediately admitted to a hospital in Sydney. The BCCI has now provided a health update on his health.
Shreyas Iyer Released from ICU
The BCCI medical team told news agency PTI that Shreyas Iyer’s health is now stable and he has also been released from the ICU.
The incident occurred during the third ODI between India and Australia (IND vs AUS). Iyer ran backwards to catch Alex Carey. He was injured while attempting the catch at backward point, resulting in a broken left rib. The medical report revealed that his spleen had ruptured.

However, his condition has improved significantly now. He is recovering. The spleen is located in the upper left part of the abdomen. It functions to purify the blood and protect the body from infection. It is very delicate, which is why it ruptured easily after Iyer was injured. It can easily rupture if someone falls or hits something hard while playing.
