83 people drowned in Bihar during Chhath Puja. Most of the deceased were children and teenagers. Fourteen people died in Patna, eight in Nalanda and Vaishali, three in Aurangabad and Saran, two in Rohtas, Begusarai, and Gopalganj, one each in Bhojpur, Siwan, Buxar, and Kaimur, and 29 in Kosi, Seemanchal, and East Bihar districts. Fourteen people are still missing.
Jharkhand also reported 25 deaths
Most of the deceased were children and teenagers. Fourteen people drowned in Patna. Eight people each drowned in Nalanda and Vaishali, three each in Aurangabad and Saran, two each in Rohtas, Begusarai, and Gopalganj, one each in Bhojpur, Siwan, Buxar, and Kaimur, and 29 in Kosi, Seemanchal, and East Bihar districts, with 14 still missing. Additionally, 25 people, including children, drowned in Jharkhand.
How many deaths where?
Reports indicate that 14 people drowned at ghats in North Bihar. 35 people died on October 27, 2025, and 53 on October 28, 2025. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed condolences for the deaths.
The search for the missing continues
34 people have died in South Bihar, 30 in Kosi-Seemanchal and East Bihar, and 19 in North Bihar. Most of these people ventured into deep water while preparing the Chhath Ghat, bathing, or offering prayers. NDRF and SDRF teams are continuously searching for the missing.
