Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was met by Narendra Jeet Singh Bindra, Chairman of the Gurdwara Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust, at the Secretariat on Monday. During the meeting, Bindra expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, the State Government, and the local administration for their support in the arrangements for the Hemkunt Sahib Yatra.
He stated that the Chief Minister’s special support and timely instructions regarding the arrangements resulted in the smooth and successful completion of the Hemkunt Sahib Yatra. This year, a record 275,000 pilgrims from India and around the world participated in this holy pilgrimage. Despite adverse climatic conditions, the Yatra was managed efficiently. The pilgrims widely appreciated the security arrangements, facilities, and coordination efforts. Bindra also discussed with the Chief Minister some important improvements related to infrastructure and logistics for the upcoming Yatra.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami assured that necessary steps would be taken on priority before the next Yatra begins. The Chief Minister stated that the Hemkunt Sahib Yatra holds great significance alongside the Chardham. This sacred site, located high in the Himalayas, is the identity of the state. The state government has prepared an effective action plan for the development of the state’s pilgrimage sites and for the convenience of pilgrims. He stated that the construction of a ropeway from Govindghat to Hemkunt Sahib will make travel in the Himalayan region more accessible.
It is noteworthy that just two months before the start of the Hemkunt Sahib Yatra, a crucial bridge connecting Govindghat to the Hemkunt Yatra route was completely destroyed in a massive landslide. Under the Chief Minister’s direct intervention and effective leadership, a new valley bridge was completed ahead of schedule, averting the crisis and ensuring uninterrupted movement of pilgrims. Bindra also thanked the Chief Minister for issuing instructions to celebrate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in a grand manner in the state and to make every citizen aware of Guru Maharaj’s unique sacrifice for the protection of religion and humanity. He expressed confidence that under the Chief Minister’s continued guidance, the Hemkunt Sahib Yatra will further flourish, becoming a symbol of faith, unity, and seamless pilgrimage management.
