Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan chaired a meeting of the Integrated Metropolitan Transport Authority regarding the mobility plan for Dehradun city at the Secretariat on Thursday. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary reviewed the progress of the traffic congestion reduction plan for Dehradun city.
The Chief Secretary directed all concerned officials to immediately initiate the improvement process at the locations identified for improvement under the mobility plan. He directed the work to begin within the next month. The Chief Secretary also directed increased enforcement against traffic violations. He directed the Dehradun District Magistrate to continuously monitor the situation to ensure timely completion.
The Chief Secretary urged that new parking spaces be identified and developed. He also directed the Public Works Department to work on underground parking. He said that a feasibility study should be conducted for underground parking spaces in the Secretariat and Parade Ground, as well as on Chakrata Road. He also directed that on-site inspections be conducted of the suggestions made in the CMP and the newly identified potential parking spaces.
The Chief Secretary also inquired in detail about the progress of the Indira Market and Aadhat Bazaar projects. He directed that the Aadhat Bazaar land allotment process be completed by November and further action be initiated immediately. He directed that the work on Phase 1 and Phase 2 of Indira Market be expedited. He stated that a timeline for both projects should be set and submitted soon.
The Chief Secretary directed the Transport Department to ensure the prompt operation of new buses and to continuously work towards increasing awareness of traffic rules.
Present on the occasion were Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, Mrs. Reena Joshi, MNA Mrs. Namami Bansal, Brijesh Kumar Mishra from the Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation, along with senior officials from the relevant departments.
