Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat attended the fair as the chief guest on the third day of the four-day Folk Cultural and Agricultural Development Fair held at Mehalchauri in the Gairsain development block of Chamoli district. While land in Uttarakhand is being sold, luxurious buildings are being built there after selling the sacred lands of our Bhumiya deities. The current low land sales in Chamoli district are a testament to the people’s awareness. He said that the Gairsain pledge must be fulfilled together.

He appealed to the public, saying that the day a government that listens to me is established in Dehradun with your blessings, no one can stop Gairsain from becoming the capital. The people of the Gairsain region should continue to mobilize, so that governments will be forced to decide on Gairsain as the capital.

During the fair, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat honored prominent Gairsain residents Lakhpat Singh Rawat, Jagdish Dhoundiyal, Prem Singh Rawat, and Surendra Singh Rawat. He also received the blessings of Baba Prakash Giri Ji Maharaj of the Mehalchauri Temple.
