Uttarakhand: The Chief Minister’s face shines in advertisements, it is painful to see the dull faces of the youth – Harish Rawat

Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat has once again targeted the Dhami government. He raised his voice regarding the government’s demand for salaries, security, and respect for UPNL (Upanal) personnel and youth. He demanded regularization for these employees, stating that this was their right. He warned the government that if their demands are not met, the voice will no longer be heard from files, but from the streets.

It is noteworthy that former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, raising the issue of UPNL employees’ salaries, has targeted Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami through social media. Harish Rawat wrote on his social media handle that while it is pleasing to see your shining faces in advertisements, it is equally distressing to see the dull and sad faces of thousands of young soldiers in the state. He said that UPNL, established for the welfare of youth and personnel, has become a symbol of contracting rather than a symbol of respect.

Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat stated that the UPNL job is worth 38,000 rupees, but they are paid only 12,000 rupees. He questioned where the remaining money is going. But now, beyond salary, people want identity and job security. Harish Rawat said that the government talks about respecting the soldiers, but what kind of respect is this showing? The employees working through UPNL for many years have not yet been regularized, which in itself is a big question mark for the government.

The government is busy delaying this matter under one pretext or another. How did contractors come into the picture between UPNL and the people working through this organization? The government should eliminate these contractors and establish a transparent recruitment system, and UPNL workers should be paid their due wages. Harish Rawat said that today people are not asking for jobs, they are demanding their rights. If the government does not grant them this respect, then this voice will rise on the streets, and the echo on the streets will be very strong.
