Many times, calls come from unknown numbers on your mobile phone. The caller’s real name is often unknown, making many people victims of fraud. However, now this tension is about to be relieved.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is launching a new feature that will display the caller’s real name when receiving a call. This step is considered a significant step in preventing cybercrime.
Whether the number is saved or not… the caller’s real name will now be visible when receiving a call
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is launching a new feature that will display the caller’s real name if you receive a call from an unknown person. TRAI has approved the Department of Telecommunications’ proposal. This feature will be activated by default on the person receiving the call.
Unwilling users can deactivate the service
In February 2024, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) stated that the Caller Name Display (CNAP) service should be provided only to consumers who request it. However, the Department of Telecommunications wanted to make this service available by default to all users. Users unwilling to use this service could choose to deactivate it. TRAI has now agreed to this idea.
Steps to Prevent Cybercrime
This step has been taken to prevent cybercrimes such as fake calls, digital arrests, and financial fraud. However, this service will only be implemented for users using 4G or higher technology. Implementing it on other 2G and 3G networks will be difficult. It is being said that this service may be implemented within six months.
