During the current Bihar Assembly elections, there were hopes that everything would be resolved peacefully. However, what happened in Mokama on Thursday shocked everyone. A Jan Suraj Party supporter, Dularchand Yadav, was murdered.
Previously, booth capturing and murders were not uncommon during elections in Bihar. However, electoral violence had subsided since 2005. However, during the current elections, Dularchand Yadav (76) was shot dead. There are allegations that supporters of JDU candidate Anant Kumar Singh carried out the attack.
Jan Suraj Party worker killed during election campaign
The murder caused an uproar in Dularchand Yadav’s village, Tartar. The villagers were filled with anger. The family was not ready for a post-mortem examination, demanding the arrest of Anant Singh first. However, after persuasion, the body was sent for post-mortem.
Murder Charges Against Anant Singh
Dularchand Yadav’s grandson, Raviranjan Yadav, has accused Anant Singh of murder. He has demanded police protection and justice for his family. Following this, the police have registered a case against five people, including Anant Singh and his two nephews, Ranveer and Karamveer.
The deceased’s family members claim that Anant Singh’s supporters shot him first and then ran him over with a vehicle. No arrests have been made in this case.
Tejashwi Yadav Targets Nitish Government
Tejashwi Yadav has targeted the NDA government following this murder. Tejashwi Yadav shared a post on X, writing, “There is no place for violence in a democracy. In a democracy, battles are fought on ideological and public issues. Not through bomb blasts and gunfire!
In the NDA’s great jungle raj, which nurtures those in power through hardened criminals, they are wreaking havoc outside. Today, a sub-inspector, Anirudh Paswan, was brutally murdered in Bihar. In Mokama, a notorious crime hotspot, power-protected goons murdered a social activist, Dularchand Yadav.”
