This bridge is a beautiful blend of modernity and religious significance. It will be the first bridge in India to have a glass walkway with cables. This glass bridge is named Bajrang Setu Rishikesh. India’s First Cable Glass Bridge Rishikesh

India’s first cable-stayed glass bridge, Bajrang Setu Rishikesh, is being built over the Ganges River. It will replace the old Laxman Jhula in Rishikesh. It should be noted that Laxman Jhula was closed in 2019 due to safety reasons.

Rishikesh’s Cable Glass Bridge Cost

This cable glass bridge is 132 to 133 meters long and 8 meters wide. There are 1.5-meter-wide clear glass walkways on both sides for pedestrians. The glass is 65-66 millimeters thick, making it extremely safe and sturdy.

The cables are made of strong steel. Its entrance was inspired by the Kedarnath Temple. The bridge cost approximately ₹70 crore to build. The Uttarakhand government and the tourism department jointly developed this project.

Special Features of the Bridge: Glass Bridge Rishikesh

The bridge is intended for pedestrians only. However, there is a five-meter-wide steel deck in the middle, allowing two-wheeled vehicles to easily cross it. However, limited access will be provided to pedestrians to avoid inconvenience to pedestrians.

The beautiful view of the Ganges River from above will be a treat for travelers. Modern sensors have been installed for safety. These have been installed to withstand wind and earthquakes.

When will the bridge be inaugurated?
