Uttarakhand UCC: 40 couples registered online for live-in, permission of 22 cancelled

Since the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, over 90,000 people from Haridwar have registered their marriages on the UCC portal. Meanwhile, 40 applications have been received for live-in relationships. Of these, 22 have been rejected, meaning these couples have not been granted permission to live together without marriage. Gram Panchayat Ghaziwali has also become the first Gram Panchayat to achieve 100% registration.

According to Atul Pratap Singh, District Panchayat Raj Officer and nodal officer for marriage registration on the UCC portal, 40 couples had applied for online registration on the UCC portal. Of these, 12 have been granted permission to live together, while 22 have been rejected. The processing of the remaining applications is ongoing.

Gram Panchayat Ghaziwali sets a record in registrations. He also stated that the Ghaziwali Gram Panchayat in Bahadarabad has set a record in registrations. After March 26, 2010, 201 individuals married. All of them have been registered 100% on the UCC portal.
