Congress workers paid tribute to the martyrs at the Martyrs’ Memorial and began the Silver Jubilee celebrations by singing folk songs. On this occasion, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat said, “The first milestone of Uttarakhand’s 25 years has been satisfactory. However, there are still some shortcomings and challenges that will be addressed.”

Regarding the special Assembly session, he said, “It would have been better if this session had been held in Bharani Sain. Keeping the Himalayas in mind, we would have said that we will move forward on the path of the Himalayan state envisioned by the country’s Parliament 25 years ago. This discussion would have begun with the President’s address, but that did not happen; we remained in Dehradun again.”

The former Chief Minister said, “There are many areas where much work still needs to be done. Especially for women, poor villagers, struggling laborers, and youth, for whose bright future the state fought and for whom the state agitators sacrificed their lives.” Regarding the political instability in the state over the past 25 years, Rawat said, “There have been many omissions, mistakes, and shortcomings. We need to analyze these and move forward.” We can build a glorious, proud Uttarakhand. We have come here to resolve the path forward.

Calling the two-day session a special session is an insult to the state: Mahara

Congress State President Karan Mahara said, “Calling the two-day session a special session is an insult to the state. MLAs want to be able to ask questions related to the Chief Minister’s departments, but such a time has not yet come. People want to raise questions about disasters and recruitment scams.” He said, “The state has not lived up to the dreams of the agitators.”
