While the state government is spending crores of rupees to make villages clean and beautiful, many villages remain in a state of disrepair. In Basedi Khadar village, located in the Laksar development block of Haridwar district, the situation is so dire that villagers are forced to wade through dirty water.

Villagers forced to wade through dirty water
Due to the lack of proper drainage system in the village, the roads are filled with dirty water. Sewer water is now entering homes, making life miserable for the villagers. Villagers say that this waterlogging is causing children and the elderly to fall ill, and many have even slipped and sustained injuries.

Risk of disease spreading in the village increased
Villagers said they had repeatedly reported the problem to the village head, but no action was taken. The village head’s negligence has increased the risk of disease spreading in the village. When the Khabar Uttarakhand team contacted Laksar Block Development Officer Praveen Bisht regarding this matter, he was told that he was in a meeting in Dehradun. Our team then reached Laksar Tehsil and discussed the issue with SDM Saurabh Aswal.
