sir
The deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process has been extended in the country. In West Bengal, it has been extended to December 11th, and in Kerala, it has also been extended by a week.
In Bengal, the enumeration forms will now be submitted by December 11th, instead of December 4th. The draft electoral roll will be published on December 16th, instead of December 9th. Similarly, in Kerala, the enumeration forms can now be submitted until December 11th, and the draft electoral roll will be published on December 16th. The final electoral roll will be published on February 14, 2026. The SIR revision is applicable in 13 states and union territories.
What did the Election Commission say?
In the revised schedule, the Election Commission stated that the work of correcting or reorganizing polling stations should be completed by December 11th. The work of updating the control table and preparing the draft roll will be done from December 12th to 15th. After the Election Commission publishes the draft electoral roll on December 16th, voters can file appeals or objections until January 15th.
Instructions issued for the settlement of claims and objections
The Electoral Registration Officer has also been instructed to decide on the enumeration forms and settle claims and objections from December 16th to February 7th. Following these procedures, the Election Commission will publish the final electoral roll in all nine states and union territories on February 12th.
The decision to change the schedule will be a major relief for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who have not yet completed the work of submitting and digitizing the enumeration forms.
