Uttarakhand: Earthquake tremors cause panic in several areas of Chamoli, people rushed out of their homes

Uttarakhand was shaken by an earthquake once again today. Tremors were felt in Narayanbagar, Chamoli. This caused panic among the people, and they rushed out of their homes.
According to reports, the tremors were felt at 10:27 AM in Karnaprayag, Narayanbagar, Tharali, and Dewal. The earthquake measured 3.7 on the Richter scale. Disaster management officer Nand Kishore Joshi said that the epicenter of the earthquake is believed to be near Chamoli. No damage has been reported from anywhere.
Uttarakhand included in sensitive Zone Six
Uttarakhand has been included in the highly sensitive Zone Six in terms of seismic activity. Earlier, the districts of the state were divided into Zones Four and Five. Now, the Bureau of Indian Standards has released a new seismic zonation map in the criteria code of practice-2025 for the earthquake-resistant design of seismic risk structures. In this, Uttarakhand, along with other Himalayan states, has been placed in the extremely sensitive Zone Six in terms of seismic activity. According to scientists, this means that people will have to be more vigilant about construction work throughout the state.
Six earthquakes in the state in two months
The state has experienced six earthquakes in the last two months. On Sunday, an earthquake of magnitude 3.7 on the Richter scale struck Chamoli. Before this, on November 9, an earthquake of magnitude 3.6 on the Richter scale occurred in Bageshwar. According to the National Center for Seismology, the state experienced four earthquakes in October as well.
