Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the founding day celebrations of the Provincial Reserve Police (PRD) in the capital Dehradun. During the event, CM Dhami made several major announcements regarding the PRD personnel. He took the salute at the ceremonial parade held on the ‘Founding Day’ of the Provincial Reserve Police and extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to everyone on the occasion. CM Dhami announced the establishment of a dedicated training institute for the PRD and several other measures, including considering a jawan on duty even if hospitalized during duty.
Making important announcements for the PRD personnel, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that scholarships would be provided to the children of PRD jawans who achieve excellent results in various examinations. Financial assistance was also distributed to the dependents of deceased PRD jawans. The Chief Minister further stated that a special training institute would be established for the PRD personnel. In case a jawan is hospitalized during duty, they will still be considered on duty.
PRD jawans will be provided with an honorarium for a maximum of 6 months during their treatment period. CM Dhami said that PRD jawans are efficiently and faithfully discharging their duties in maintaining smooth traffic flow, providing necessary support to the administration, ensuring security, and fulfilling many other responsibilities. The ex-gratia amount given to the family of a PRD jawan who dies during duty in riots has been increased from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh.
Similarly, the ex-gratia amount for a PRD jawan who dies during highly sensitive duty has been increased from Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 1.5 lakh. CM Dhami said that the government has taken several steps for the welfare and protection of the interests of PRD jawans. PRD jawans who have completed approximately 10 years of service and retired have been given a one-time service allowance of Rs. 18 lakh. The Chief Minister further added that PRD jawans have worked diligently during natural disasters in the state, and their contribution has been very significant. He said that the PRD personnel have ensured the safe journey of pilgrims during the Char Dham pilgrimage with their patience, sensitivity, and sense of responsibility. He expressed his gratitude to the PRD personnel for this.
