Uttarakkhand: A young man was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Khatima, leaving two others seriously injured; the incident has caused panic in the area

A sensation gripped Khatima late Friday night when an old rivalry turned deadly near the bus station. Some young men attacked Tushar Sharma (24) and two of his friends with knives in a crowded area. Tushar died on the spot, while the other two young men were seriously injured. Panic ensued in the area after the incident. Police have arrested one accused, while others are still at large.

Young Man Stabbed to Death in Broad Daylight in Khatima
According to reports, around 9:30 PM on Friday night, Tushar Sharma was standing at a tea stall near the bus station with his friends Salman and Abhay. During this time, an argument broke out between them and some young men from Gotia Islamnagar. The dispute, stemming from an old enmity, turned violent within minutes, and the attackers pulled out sharp weapons and began a frenzied attack. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers brutally stabbed Tushar, targeting him specifically, resulting in his death on the spot.

Two Young Men in Critical Condition
Salman and Abhay were seriously injured in the attack and were rushed to the hospital. Due to their critical condition, they were referred to a higher medical center. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene, took the body into custody for post-mortem examination, sealed the area, and began an investigation. A video of the incident is rapidly going viral on social media, showing some young men openly attacking with sharp weapons.

Married Two Years Ago
The deceased, Tushar Sharma, had been married just about two years ago. He worked for a transport company. The family is completely devastated by their son’s murder, and a pall of gloom hangs over their home. Outrage spread throughout Khatima after the murder. The traders’ association and various organizations reached the police station demanding the arrest of the accused.

Traders’ Association Announces Market Closure
In protest, the traders’ association has announced a market closure. Meanwhile, Bajrang Dal, Vishva Hindu Parishad, and other Hindu organizations have gathered in Khatima. The deceased’s family and local residents have staged a protest.

The accused’s mother has been taken into police custody
Police cordoned off the area near the Jhankat brick kiln around 1 AM to apprehend the accused. During this operation, the accused, Hashim, opened fire on the police. In retaliation, the police shot the accused in the leg. Police officer Vimal Rawal stated that one accused has been arrested, while the search for the others is ongoing. To put pressure on the accused, the police have taken his mother into custody.

The accused has been admitted to the hospital
Police recovered an illegal .315 bore pistol and two live cartridges from the arrested accused, Hashim. The injured accused was taken to Nanakmatta Hospital for first aid and then referred to Rudrapur District Hospital. The accused is currently undergoing treatment under police custody.
