From the new financial year, Anganwadi workers will receive a minimum of Rs. 1 lakh as retirement benefits. Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya issued instructions to this effect on Monday after the decision was finalized.
Currently, they receive Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000 upon retirement
In a meeting held at the HRDC auditorium in the Secretariat, Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya reviewed several schemes. After the meeting, the Cabinet Minister stated that Anganwadi workers currently receive Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000 upon retirement. This amount will now be increased.
Anganwadi workers will now receive Rs. 1 lakh upon retirement
The Minister said that the department had been working to increase the retirement amount for quite some time. This required a contribution of Rs. 300 per month from the Anganwadi workers, so their consent was also necessary. She said that after receiving the consent of the Anganwadi workers’ organizations, she has issued the necessary instructions. Anganwadi workers retiring from April 1st next year onwards will benefit from this.
Funds for the Single Women Self-Employment Scheme to be released in January
Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya said that so far, a total of 504 proposals from six districts have been approved under the Single Women Self-Employment Scheme. Applications from other districts are still being processed. She said that instructions have been given to organize a program in the first week of January to release the funds to the 504 approved applicants.
Minister reviews Nanda Gaura Scheme
The Minister said that the applications received for the Nanda Gaura Scheme this year were also reviewed in the meeting. This year, more than 45,000 applications have been received under this scheme, which is the highest number to date. The Minister said that the application deadline is December 20th, so the number of applications may increase further. In the meeting, she also instructed officials to release the funds to eligible beneficiaries around January 15th.
Notification to be issued for promotion to Anganwadi Supervisor posts
In addition, the meeting also discussed the promotion of Anganwadi workers to the post of Supervisor. The cabinet minister stated that a notification for promotion to the 88 vacant posts in this category will be issued within a week.
Scheme to be launched to provide financial support to elderly women: Minister
A scheme is to be launched next year to provide financial, social, and emotional support to elderly women in remote areas of the state. The cabinet minister has directed officials in this regard. A fund of Rs. 8 crore is currently available for this scheme.
