A video of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulling a woman’s burqa is going viral on social media. The statement made by Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad regarding this incident has further fueled the controversy. Commenting on the video, Sanjay Nishad said, “If touching the veil (hijab) has caused such an uproar, what would have happened if something else had been touched?” The minister has come under fire for this statement.

Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission Vice-Chairperson Aparna Yadav has strongly objected to Nishad’s statement. She has demanded an apology from both leaders. Aparna said that everyone should be mindful of their words.
