Uttarakhand: Strict action against adulteration; special campaign to be launched to check food items during Christmas and New Year

To prevent food adulteration during the Christmas and New Year festivities, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department will launch a special campaign. During this campaign, food samples will be collected from hotels, restaurants, and sweet shops.
Following instructions from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, the FDA has decided to conduct this special campaign across the state. Additional Commissioner of FDA, Tajbar Singh Jaggi, said that keeping the festive season in mind, special monitoring will be conducted to check for adulteration in sweets, savory snacks, bakery products, confectionery, dairy products, and other food items, and samples will be sent for testing.
Special teams have been formed at the district level under the leadership of food safety officers, who will inspect everything from manufacturing units to wholesale and retail vendors. Citizens can also report food adulteration complaints through the departmental portal and toll-free number.

Commissioner and Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that the department is fully vigilant regarding food safety during the festive season. Providing safe food items to the general public is a priority for the government. All districts have been instructed to conduct regular checks of priority food items, and any negligence at any level will not be tolerated.
