Continuous seismic activity in neighboring countries as well
Earlier on Tuesday morning, earthquake tremors were also felt in Pakistan. The intensity of the earthquake was 4.8. According to the NCS, this was the fifth earthquake recorded in Pakistan in less than a month.
Why do earthquakes occur frequently in this region?
The Himalayan region, Ladakh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan fall in seismically active zones. Due to the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, mild to moderate intensity earthquakes occur here periodically.
