Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Dhami held a review meeting on revenue collection and instructed officials to pay special attention to tax recovery

A review meeting on the revenue collection status for the financial year 2025-26 was held at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The Chief Minister instructed officials to focus on increasing revenue collection and ensure that the set targets are met on time. Senior officials of the concerned departments and District Magistrates should regularly monitor this in their respective districts. Maximum use of AI-based technology should be made for effective control of tax evasion. All work related to registration and land records should be digitized. Sub-registrar offices should be regularly inspected by District Magistrates and concerned senior officials. On-site inspections of properties should also be conducted to verify that the correct value of the property is recorded during registration.
The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the delay in collecting green cess from vehicles registered outside the state. He directed the Transport Department to start collecting the green cess immediately. The Chief Minister instructed that forest resources should be utilized appropriately in the interest of the state, keeping environmental protection in mind. A concrete plan should be formulated for better performance in commercial plantation and medicinal plants in the Terai region.
The Chief Minister said that increasing revenue is the government’s top priority for the overall development of the state. He said that to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to make this decade “Uttarakhand’s decade,” resource augmentation is being implemented in a mission mode. He said that Uttarakhand has secured the top position among special category states. Furthermore, the state has received a central incentive of ₹200 crore for its excellent performance in mining reforms, which is indicative of the state moving in the right direction. A tax revenue target of ₹24,015 crore has been set for the financial year 2025-26, of which more than 62 percent has already been achieved. He directed the concerned departments to make coordinated and proactive efforts to achieve 100 percent of the target in the coming period.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is placing special emphasis on capital investment for long-term economic stability. Capital expenditure has been increased by 34 percent, which will give a new impetus to infrastructure development in the state and lead to the creation of permanent assets. He said that continuous focus on policy reforms, innovation, and new technologies is essential to make financial management modern and responsive. Our objective is transparent, accountable, and results-oriented governance that delivers tangible benefits to the public. For this, all officers must work with strict financial discipline, better management, and collective responsibility.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan, Principal Secretaries R.K. Sudhanshu, L. Fanai, Secretaries Dilip Jawalkar, Yugal Kishore Pant, C. Ravishankar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. Ranjan Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretaries Ahmed Iqbal, Sonika, Himanshu Khurana, Anuradha Pal, Dr. Meharban Singh Bisht, Manmohan Mainali, heads of various departments, and all District Magistrates virtually.
