Uttarakhand: Major security lapse for CM Dhami! After the pilot car, the interceptor vehicle also broke down and had to be started by pushing it

Numerous instances of negligence related to the security of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have come to light in the past. On Thursday, another major lapse in the CM’s security was observed. While the Chief Minister was leaving the Secretariat, the pilot car in his convoy broke down. As a result, the CM’s convoy departed without the pilot car. Surprisingly, as soon as the CM’s convoy left the Secretariat, the police interceptor car stationed at the Secretariat gate to guide the convoy also broke down. Consequently, both the pilot car and the interceptor had to be push-started after the CM’s departure.
Chief Minister Dhami was holding a review meeting on revenue receipts at the Secretariat on Thursday. After the meeting concluded, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was leaving for the World Minority Rights Day program at the Himalayan Cultural Center in Garhi Cantt. As soon as the CM’s convoy departed from the Secretariat, the pilot car in the convoy broke down. Despite several attempts, the car failed to start. The CM’s convoy then proceeded, leaving the pilot car behind. However, surprisingly, as the CM’s convoy was exiting the Secretariat gate, the police interceptor car stationed there to guide the convoy also broke down.
This caused the CM’s convoy to stop at the Secretariat gate. Police personnel and other people then pushed the interceptor car to get it started. Only then did the CM’s convoy leave the Secretariat gate. This raises a serious question: why is there such increasing negligence regarding the Chief Minister’s security? Vehicles used for the CM’s security should always be in top working condition. The Uttarakhand government allocates a substantial budget to the police department every year for its improvement and modernization. Despite this, faulty vehicles are being deployed in CM Dhami’s convoy, raising serious questions about the police department’s efficiency.
Several instances of security lapses involving Chief Minister Dhami have been reported in the past. In July of this year, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Corbett Tiger Reserve, where similar security concerns arose. During that incident, the Gypsy used in the CM’s convoy had an expired fitness certificate, which had lapsed five years earlier. The Forest Department subsequently investigated the matter and took action against the driver and other concerned employees. Similar negligence was observed when Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s fleet was leaving the Secretariat gate. Due to a private car parked at the gate, the Chief Minister’s convoy had to wait for half an hour.
The role of pilot and interceptor cars in a convoy: In any VIP convoy, the vehicle at the front is the pilot car, which carries police personnel. When a VIP is on the move, the pilot car sounds its siren if necessary.
Two pilot cars are deployed for the VIP’s security: one at the front of the convoy and one at the rear. The interceptor car, which belongs to the traffic police, drives ahead of the convoy for a certain distance, clearing the way for the VIP and managing traffic.
