Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mussoorie. Harish Rawat said that administrative decisions in the state are not being made based on the discretion of officials, but on the whims of the BJP. He alleged that the BJP is a party of capitalists that has never seriously considered the interests of the poor, the unemployed, and the common people.

Harish Rawat said that BJP members are “even worse than Ravana.” He called them descendants of Ravana, saying they are practicing politics with the same arrogance and ostentation as Ravana. He said it is the irony of democracy that some people get jobs while others lose them. With this sentiment, he prayed to the deity of democracy that just as the youth of the country and the state are unemployed today, the people should make the BJP “unemployed” in the future.

Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat alleged that the state’s important assets, tourist destinations, and resources are being handed over to “friends and favorites.” He said that Uttarakhand has been left a state in name only, while its valuable lands and resources are being handed over to non-Uttarakhandis. This is all a well-planned conspiracy that is weakening the soul of the state.

Allegations of ending MNREGA: Harish Rawat also leveled serious allegations against the BJP regarding the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA). He said the BJP is working to change the name of MNREGA and destroy its essence. This scheme was named after Mahatma Gandhi because Gandhiji was a symbol of India’s integrity, the welfare of the poor, and Ram Rajya (ideal governance). He said MNREGA was a “legal revolution” for employment, which is being gradually dismantled. The essence of this scheme was rural development, where money went directly to the villages, and the villagers themselves decided how to spend it. The BJP has weakened this entire system.

Ram and Gandhi cannot be separated: Harish Rawat said that Mahatma Gandhi was the greatest devotee of Lord Ram. He sang “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” and even in his last moments, he said “Hey Ram.” The BJP is hatching a conspiracy to erase the name of such a great devotee, and this will not be accepted.

He alleged that the BJP would also snatch away “Ram” from the struggling poor and common people in the coming days, ultimately turning Ram into a symbol of Adani and Ambani. Harish Rawat’s sharp and emotional statement has created a new stir in Uttarakhand politics. There are indications that the political conflict over this issue will intensify in the coming days.
