PM Modi was overjoyed by the victory in the Maharashtra local body elections and wrote this special message to the people of the state

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday thanked the people of Maharashtra for supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party and its Mahayuti alliance in the local body elections, saying it reflects their faith in people-centric development. Modi posted on ‘X’, “Maharashtra stands firmly with development. Grateful to the people of Maharashtra for blessing the BJP and the Mahayuti in the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections.”

Applauds Mahayuti functionaries
The Prime Minister said, “This reflects faith in our vision of people-centric development. We are committed to working with renewed energy to fulfill the aspirations of every citizen across the state.” Modi also lauded the BJP and Mahayuti functionaries for their tireless efforts at the grassroots level. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday described the Bharatiya Janata Party’s performance in the elections to 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats as a historic mandate.

BJP wins the most seats
In the Maharashtra municipal elections, the BJP won 120 out of a total of 288 mayoral positions. Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena secured 54 seats. The NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) won 40 seats, the Congress 34, Shiv Sena (UBT) 8, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP 7 seats. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attributed the victory in the municipal council and nagar panchayat elections to the work of the central and state governments.

Earlier, according to trends and results received by 3 PM, the BJP had won in 129 municipal councils (45 percent) this year, a significant increase compared to 94 in 2017. The Mahayuti alliance won in 215 out of a total of 288 municipal councils (74.65 percent).
